Angry Symphony II problem

The Symphony II radio on my 2002 Allroad just went - for a 2nd time!
The original one suddenly turned red (display was all red) this past Feb., won't do anything but stay red, even after shuting off the engine!
Replaced with one found on Ebay, worked fine for 8 months and this afternoon it did it again; 5 hours after I came home, parked the car, the radio is still red with 6 CDs stuck in it - won't turn on, off, totally frozen!
Any similar experience with anyone else? does it mean it's a goner?

Disconnect your battery - will require you to re-key your radio but it will reset

Thanks a lot, will bring to my garage and try it out.
Did this happen to you?
I had the battery changed a year ago and the original radio went "red" this past Feb., the technician said it's gotta be replaced so we did; maybe it wasn't necessary?
