Default Your life, in metal

Post your automotive chronology...

1980 - '77 Olds Cutlass w/t-roof, buckets and floor shifter - rents hand-me-down (my sister wrecked it one morning, driving to school)[:@]

1984 - '79 Vette... OK, it was a cheVette. Wife wrecked it when I went overseas.[:'(]

1986 - '73 BMW 2500 (precursor to the 7-series) My 1st 150mph car!!! I love teh Autostrada. Sold it so I cud get something smaller (wife din't like big cars)[&o]

1987 - '79 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Think Italian 4-dr 3-series, before BMW made 4-dr 3-series I wrecked this one. Center-punched a traffic light, in the rain, driving too fast. Downhill left-hander... I turned, car didn't. []

1988 - '81 Alfa Romeo Alfetta Quadrifoglio Think Italian 4-dr M3 2.0L, 16V, DOHC 5-sp. Everyone who drove it thought it was a V6. I wrecked thos one, too. 4 years later, in downtown Wiesbaden, Germany, just befor xmass. xmass sucked that year.[:@]

1991 - '83 Nissan Cherry. Beater, pure & simple. Paid $470.00 and it lasted 9 months. Best money I ever spent. Top speed was ALMOST 88mph![:'(]

1992 - '86 520I Meh... It's no Alfa.
'83 323I WOW! It's no Alfa!!! Touched 155, briefly, once. OK, it was my g/f's car, but I did all teh wrenchin on it.[&:]

1993 - '81 745I Rilly big, rilly heavy, rilly fast, rilly hard to bring down from super-sonic speeds. Bent a tie-rod, somehow or another, sold it for scrap, got $50.00 frum the junk man

1994 - '88 Porsche 924 (it's a TWO syllable word, folks... POR-sha, POR-sha, POR-sha) Costs me $2K. Engine burst into flames one morning while being tuned up. Garage tried to sue ME for burning up their service bay with my car!!! The Noive.[>:]

1996 - '92 Opel Calibra Turbo!!! OH-WOW-OH-WOW-OH-WOW!!! Heaven. 2.0L, 16V, DOHC, Turbo, 6-sp, AWD ROCKET. For fun I used to run Beemers & Benzos OUT OF THE FAST LANE on teh Autobahn. Top speed approx 175mph!!! Hadda sell it when I FINALLY came back to the World in...

2000 - '93 Toyo Camry The V6, NOT the 4. 5-sp. Fun ffor any annoynmous looking sedan. Top speed approx 145mph Found that out on one of my bi-monthly trips to Detroit. Speed limits like 70 in MI, cops usually grace you 20... U do teh math. She's still on the road, and still in my name...

2004 - '99 Audi A8 My xmass present to ME. Haven't done NE t/s runs, YET... I'll let ya know, once I get some mods under my belt...
[sm=gears.gif]

Except for the Cutlass, which was an automatic, and the Audi, which is a Tip, all have been manual tranny's

That's it.

Your turn

Here's my history, from a previous post.....
.
OK, here we go, in reverse chronological order (latest first), going back to 1969...(Deep breath here)
Current: 2000 A6 Avant
1996 Ford Probe GT (16yr. old dtr.)
2003 Ford Explorer XLT V6
Gone:
1996 Chevy Blazer -- We were in a 'just get by' mode, here.
1997 Ford F-250 supercab -- Very plush, w/ leather. Towed trailer.
1993 Chevy Astro LT -- Nice interior. Not enough pwr to tow
a travel trailer
1993 Isuzu Rodeo -- A bit small on the inside, but good V6
1986 Ford F350 Crew Cab P/U (Diesel) -- This could tow a 5th wheel trlr.
1985 GMC S15 P/U -- Nice truck- but wouldn't tow a 5th whl.
1963 Ford Thunderbird -- Project vehicle- never got beyond that.
1989 Ford Taurus S/W -- A very forgettable vehicle
1988 Olds Cutlass Ciera -- My WORST CAR.
1986 Dodge Colt Vista -- Lots of room for a tiny car.
1984 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park -- Bought used. Burned up
a week later in Vegas. (Elec. short)
1986 Mitsubishi Galant -- Planning for babies - sold the Z
1985 Nissan 300ZX Turbo -- WOW! Wife's car, actually
1983 Chevy C20 van conversion -- Towed a travel trailer with it.
1979 Toyota P/U -- Possibly my most reliable vehicle
1974 Mazda RX-4 wagon -- Owned both RX-4's @ same time.
1974 Mazda RX-4 sedan -- 1st new car - Rotary power!
1972 Ford Courier P/U -- Actually Mazda-built
1969 Ford Thunderbird (4-door) -- Bought right in the middle of the gas
crunch. had to sell it -couldn't afford the gas.
1968 Chevy Camaro (6-cyl) -- wife's car when I met her
1968 Pontiac Firebird -- only had it a few mo's, then got engaged.
1965 Dodge Dart 270 2-dr. sedan -- had the slant 6 rebuilt
1966 Chevy Corvair Corsa (turbocharged) -- got it up to 105 on the fwy
1964 Pontiac Ventura 2-dr H.T. -- Had transistorized ignition!
1963 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass coupe -- paid $ 750 cash @ Ford dlr

I've also had numerous company vehicles of the sort you would expect - the last one being a PT Cruiser. i was actually quite impressed at the build quality, after having Neons, Shadows, Aries, et al.

My favorite of all of them? That's hard to say. I'm obviously delighted with the Avant. Also loved the RX-4 wagon, the 300ZX turbo, the Corvair, and even the '64 Pontiac Ventura. I think the Mercury Colony Park wagon broke my heart, though. Woudda loved to drive around in that land yacht. I might even look for another one someday.

1997- 88 Hyundai Excel. What a great car we used to go rallye driving with this thing. Hit a tree, fixed the door sold it for $800 bucks. Bye the way this car was free

1997- 88 Pontiac Grand Prix. What a great car looked like crap due to the GM paint problem those years. Wrapped it aroung 2 trees like a field goal. SCORE I WIN SKIDPLATE DOWN .

1997- 88 Pontiac Grand Prix #2- I had this car untill January of 2000 this car kicked ***. DARK BLUE, chrome wheels, and $5000 competition stereo. what a freakin loud *** car.

2000- 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP- I loved this thing I was stupid to sell it. My first new car at 19. I thought I was a high roller, big pimpin and sh%&.

2002- 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 LS- this thing was sweet untill I hit a deer over July 4th weekend. When the body shop took the bed off to repair it they fiund the fram e was almost cracked in half. So I fixed it and sold it to Fast Cash they still gave me 14G's for it which is what I owed. So no loss

2004- 99.5 Audi A4- I bought this to save money, but that backfired. I love this car though. Next I need to find me some 18" RS4 wheels because those look hot.

Oh yeah forgot to add my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport what a POS but it was a company car. They took it away from me last year when I went into the hospital and now I since I've been back to work, and am now starting to travel again I can get another company vehicle.
