a4 trans, how much hp can it handle?
Hi, not really an Audi guy but i'm building an E mod autox car and I am looking into using an A4 in a transaxle configuration. My biggest concern is how robust are they? What kind of HP can these things hold up to? I know i've seen some people putting down serious power in A4's. Anyone have experience with putting 400+ to these transmissions? Pitfalls? Weakpoints?
Any help/input appreciated.

Thanks, however I am actually putting an A4 5spd trans in a different vehicle altogether. Basically I am building a purpose built SCCA E-Mod. 1700lbs and somewhere north of 450hp at the crank. I am looking to use the Audi trans in the rear as a transaxle because it fits certain size limitations. My biggest concern is how much power have people put through these? Nothing is going to hold up forever, but I don't want the car to spit these out like watermelon seeds either
mike is putting down 680 at the wheels on the 01A gears and a custom clutch setup. i think you should use the 01E tranny from the 2.8 because it has higher gear ratios so you'll be able to stay in gear longer. he's also using the stock axles too i think
you can make 298 whp & 386 wtq with a intercooler, high flow cat, and CAI, stage 2+ apr tune on E85.
My guess is close to 500 whp if you upgrade to fuel system
