$1750 for the timing belt change @ the dealership
Timing belt has to be replace after sometime..and it's a simple process.. any local shop will be able to take care of it at a fraction of the cost (unless u know how to do it yourself). Dealers are a rip off...of course unless it's electrical / warranty issues, then i'll bring that to the dealer..otherwise if it's mechanical..body..etc..any local shop can take care of that.

Yeah it's not cheap. I'm ALL FOR giving the independent guy the work-I've learned that's the best way, almost. When it comes to this detailed piece of machinery, I really only trust the dealership, using audi parts---the guy up the road told me $1100+ for the TB. But you know...they take care of every car in the world.
So yes, I blame my trust on my ignorance.
All in all, thank you for the heads up. You guys must know people in the local garages to get cheap labor; or you hired illegals.

Well said rayveedub... and dreamcar, you can always ask a friend to help you out. Manuals, some support and ***** will get the job done, you must be a half empty kinda guy. I don't think anyone here is a genius (and if you are, I'm sorry), but everyone's gotta start somewhere!
