$8,000+
Most of the stage 3 "kits" on the market are grossly overpriced. If you don't mind piecing your own kit together, you can save thousands of dollars. This is what I did on my silver car and I haven't looked back yet!
If $4K is ridiculous, I don't know what to tell ya, maybe buy all the parts used or get yourself a DSM or a car that's cheaper to mod. The K04 turbos alone sell for $2,000+ for the pair and that doesn't include the inlet piping or hardware. Then you have to either buy or piece together your own fueling kit, a clutch, and intercoolers too depending on how much power you want to make.
To answer your other questions, the RS4 injectors are really, really small. These are the same injectors that are used in APR's Stage 3 kit and they are routinely maxed out at 100% duty cycles. There are much bigger and better injectors out there, such as the Siemens 55lb or 60lb injectors.
The ASP MAF is actually a billet piece that they make in-house. Since that article was published, I believe ASP has stopped selling their MAF separately. You can only buy it as part of their fueling kit which is $2100. They do this to discourage people from piecing together their own fueling kits and saving money. This is why I went out and had my own MAF built by a machine shop.
If you have any other questions, just let me know.

For the MAF, do we just need a housing or a housing and electronics? I know you can buy the RS4 electronics for like $100, you can get a housing made and drill the holes to mount the electronics. Do I care if the maf housing is billet or plastic? Heck no. If you know someone who can fabricate and has a pipe bender, you can make a lot of stuff (ic pipes, intake tube) etc instead of paying for a pre-fabbed one that is over priced. I'm all about budget builds. Sure it'd be nice to drop the car off, say I want $600 hp, and write a check when it's done, but I don't have any disposable income for toys. I have real world bills to pay, so when I do start to mod my audi, I'll be buying some used parts.
And $800-1500 for these catback exhaust systems.... please. Hack the factory **** off with a sawzall, take it to a custom shop, and have them bend you up a system. I personally don't give a rip about stainless pipes. I'm fine with bare aluminum. I'm going to weld in cut outs on either mid pipe anyhow. Exhaust work should be under a grand from the turbos to the exhaust tips if you find a shop that will work with you. Pick your own muffer have it welded on, and have them weld a hanger piece to hook into the factory rubber cushions. So simple.
I like how Marc did it. The most expensive piece of my system will be the turbos and maybe the fueling kit.
