Default $8,000+

First off, forgive me for the noob post as I'm sure this has been adressed before. Short on time now, I figured I'd just ask and take my thrashing along with some answers, ...I hope.

What is the deal with all the $8,000+ K04 kits?
Can the turbos and injectors not be sourced individually? I thought it was a simple matter of raising the engine and slapping on the turbos and doing your injectors (RS4 injectors?) and FPR.

$8K is rediculous! $4K is rediculous! If this is gonna be the case, I think I'm looking into the wrong car because I'm not a stock turbo kinda guy. ThoseK03s gotta go away fast.

Sorry to upset the top posters that have posted on this over and over again, but evey corner I turn to look into K04s I see these rediculously priced "packaged deals." Sorry but I thought thatthe whole point of the K04 was the easiness of its direct bolt on features. WTF! It'll be a cold day in hell when I give someone$8,000 for a couple of K04 turbos, injectors, hoses and hardware. BUMP THAT!

Someone tell me I'm not wasting my time considering the S4 formy newride. And please check out my Sig and notice that I'm not completly hopeless either, before you "school me."I had to cut a lot out to make the 255 character max.

The prices continue to go up too and the reason being is because people don't think like you, ecs and awe tuning are sold out of kits and are on back order so until nobody wants them anymore the price will not drop. Yes you can buy the turbos seperately and the injectors but where they get you is their specialized maf housings and larger air boxes because god knows the engine needs to breathe too. If you can find the intake side of the house then your set. 10secS4 is just like you he bought only the major parts tuned it himself and then blows everyone away. The thing is AWE has their **** down pat and to the T, They dont have to advance the timing to make their supercars and tricks like that. Finally other people don't know about us dedicated fans and just know that they have a turbo car, search online for the KITS and then buy them and also pay 4 g's to have the 30 hrs of labour to install. Dont forget all the little things too like piping and all that good stuff I dont feel like typing. One more thing, we are paying for thr name, AUDI, when it comes down to how expensive it is.

^ +1 Yea, I just peiced mine out and think I send maybe 4 grand for everything. That is full turbo back, chip, k04's, injectors, and piping and maf, of and also ipp smic. So yeah full stage 3 was 4 grand but that was everything, and it was worth it to me.

ya the s4 is an expensive car to mod. K04's are so expensive partly because they are RS4 OEM. KKK/Borg warner is also sending fewer to the USA because they can get more profit in europe due to the strength of the euro. But Yes you can piece together your own turbo kit but its still expensive.

Stage 3- is a cheaper option because you use the stock fueling, and can always upgrade that later. These days K04's are upwards of $2400 a pair, add inlet pipes (i like 034 motorsports more than $600 OEM pieces) and thats really all you need. The s4 even without new turbos is going to be a whole lot different than your jetta you may not feel the need to get more than a chip and exhaust at first.

$8000 to me is outragous and un-nessicary for k04's. $8000 will get you new manifolds, 3" downpipes, external wastegates, and GT turbos from generationJDM on Audizine, allthough fueling and tuning is up to you an will be a couple thousand more. If your looking to go budget stage 3 marc AKA 10seconds4 sells a nice kit thats priced much better than the others. He just posted a thread with a video i believe so scroll down a little and find it.

a stage 3- yeah but do not run the stock injectors too high, you SHOULD get proper injectors if you're doing a full stage 3, and honestly the intake box and maf is where they jip you, the stock intake system is fine already for a stage 3 setup

personally, buy the parts seperately, you'll save a couple grand and get it tuned by a reliable shop, i always recommend MTM, and don't cut corners, it's an Audi, not a honda

^ that is what i did and am up grading more with marcs tune on his car, cause I just want more power. 4 grand for everything is not bad for a audi i think, just take ur time and ask for deals if you call someone.

yeah, but a third of that was exhaust. I don't mind spending 2-3K on a set of new turbos, injectors, and a new MAF, etc...

Audi or not. I know a lot of of people in here look down on VW (which doesn't make any since), but the engines are built and designedby the same people. And a K04 is a K04. I bought my K04 for $800.

That's what upsets me. I'll shell out the money to do it right. That's not a problem, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay $8k. I'm too experienced to notbuild my own kit and tune it, I justcan't find a site where I can buythis stuffseperately. I don't need fancy exhaust housings, or decals, or hoses that look prettier than the ones that are on the car, or any of the extra crap....

I JUST NEED THE BEEF!!!

what's the # on the two turbos (K04-001, K04-015,etc....)?Now if these turbos cannot be purchased seperately, I would understand the pricing, but I hear a lot of people doing the RS4 turbos, injectors, and such. Andif I can get it from an Audidealership, I canuse the part # to get it online for much much less.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is the principal ofthe matter. Getting ripped off on parts because of the Make of the car that the parts are intended for is wrong.

I'llstill get the S4, and I'll build my kit entirely from scratch to weild the same power as the $8K kits (as I did with the Jetta). Then, I'll post how much and from what sites and go ahead and blow the lid on this eight thousand dollar scam.
BUMP THAT!

Now, If I can just get those part numbers........[:@]
