See this link http://homepage.mac.com/edyjun1/S4/p...ne_english.pdf

Page 4

"The engine in the A6 has a comfort oriented setup, which means that it has different torque and power output. This effect was principally achieved be modifying the software configuration of the engine control unit."

Hope this helps!

Yeah i thought the A6 2.7T motor was less sport oriented coz of the ECM. The A6 2.7T also had less torque than the S4.

All u do is get the chip for the 2.7T and it will give u the same figs of chipped S4.

This is out of the 2.7T Bi Turbo self study literature from Audi.

Engine
The 2.7-litre V6 biturbo
This engine will also be used in the Audi S4
and Audi A6.

The engine used in the A6 has a comfortoriented
setup, which means that it has
different torque and power output.
This effect was principally achieved by
modifying the software configuration of the
engine control unit.

A tuning protective device prevents
the S4 engine control unit being
installed in the A6!

This prevents misuse, which can
result in damage to the drivetrain!
An auxiliary heater is not available
as an option for the S4 and the A6,
due to the constraints on space.

ahh sorry im late to the party .. i wouldnt really say teh engines aer the same.. but theyre similar. The s4 has better tuning on the ecu for speed where the a6 isnt oriented that way. Which will be the case everywhere in the car.

Is there anybody that has a chip upgrade for the A6 2.7T? And if I install the new chip, how close performance-wise would I come to the S4, assuming I upgrade the suspension in the A6?

The S4 is much more fun. it is more like a sports car then the A6. I have the A6 2.7T 6-sp. and it is more sluggish. more like a big luxury car. I bet if you but new wheels and suspension components in it would feel better. I feel the difference is big enough that I just bought a '01 S4
