Question 2000 180 TT for a 2001 S4???

Hey guys-

I saw a posting on craigslist for a 2001 S4. Same mileage as my TT (150,000) and he's looking for a straight up trade. I'm using a napkin to hold the drule when I think about pulling on the highway with the S4.
We are planning on meeting up sometime this weekend to checkout one another's cars. Being a college student I'm a little worried about the maintenance...I was ready for a little extra money toward maintenance with the TT, but would it be significantly more with the S4? He claims to have the timing belt done 10K ago. I guess my question is: Would this be a good trade? He says It has a mtm chip a k&n air filter and diverter valves from a 225tt. Any idea of the Hp on it with those upgrades? Anything specific to look for when we meet up? thanks.

150,000 is quite a few miles on the B5 S4, is it on stock turbos? The MTM chip is known for being very smooth, the car would be considered stage 1 with those mods, over 300 crank HP lots of tq and much faster than your TT. Personally id say that trade is in your favor. Maintenance will be higher without a doubt, the t-belt is one of the major ones about every 75k miles. Turbos can be expensive to replace when they blow, and then theres the obvious stuff like brake wear, sensors, suspension wear, wheele bearings, CV boots all of which your likely to run into at one time or another. It will be more expensive than your TT. Its up to you to decide if you can afford it

I would say get the S4 because its ten time more fun to drive than a TT, plus its better looking and just all around bad ***. It might be good to get the maintanence records of his timing belt change. If he cant produce that, I would stay away unless you wanna do it again to be safe and spend 1200 bucks cuz thats how much it will cost. I also would HIGHLY recommend you buy an extended powertrain warranty depending on how many years you want it. I would say 2 year powertrain warranty will cost about 2600 bucks but its totally worth it cuz it will cover your turbos and anything that mechanically goes wrong. For the most part, you wont have any engine issue except for turbos going bad. Just go to an authorized audi dealer and they can give you the scoop. Depending on what you want, you would just need to put down 10% when you get the warranty and you can finance it for 0% interest for up to 18 months. put down 300-400 bucks and you are set. your monthly payment should be around 160 a month for the warranty but its the smartest choice if you get the S4 cuz it gets costly but its worth it. Its a special car. I love mine to death. wouldnt trade it for anything. I love that you dont see them on the road everyday either like Acura TLs. Those things are everywhere.
