Default 2000 S4 Brakes

When you change the brake pads on a 2000 S4, I realize there are the sensors to tell you that the pads need replacing.
Is it common, when the pads are replaced, to get that annoying brake warning chime? If so, how long does it take to wear-in and go away? Or, is there potentially another problem?

one of the sensors could be loose, you got pads with sensor plugs right.. if you didnt its no big deal you just need to clip and ground the wire for the warning to go away... your abs light isnt on is it?

No, ABS light isn't on. It's just every 10mins or so the BRAKE light in the cluster lights up and the chime rings.
I'm buying the car from an independent dealer and he had his mechanic replace the pads before I buy it. He did this about 2 weeks ago and the car's only been driven maybe 50miles. So, I wanna make sure I'm not buying something with a pre-existing problem.
How do you clip and ground the wire? Just tie it directly to a ground source?

hmm, i think you just ground them by attatching them to a ground source, have the guy have his mechanic double check all the wires on a lift, and be there to take a look at it couldnt hurt... you could try asking this on audizine.com too, more people, also you could try searching archives here, i remember a post about pad wear sensors

If you want to get rid of it. Just splice the 2 wire together and sealed them into
a heat shrink tube. Your problem will be over. I'm talking about the terminal wires
not the pad wire, in case you ask... That's what i did with my car.

Since the dealer have to do it, you might keep it stock and make them fix it for you
for free.

Thanks you two for your advice.
I'll report back when I'm ready to modify, if I do.
I'm just looking forward to enjoying this car. I already have my cure for pure power, so this one will be nice, quiet and smooth

Do the brake wear sensors do anything to the computer other than telling you that you need to replace your pads?
Reason I ask is because while I was test driving this car, I went to nail the throttle on the highway. The car seemed to buck and little and downshift, and the brake light immediately came on.
Any ideas?

Ok, now are you SURE is the brake PAD light, & NOT the brake fluid sensor?
It's doesn't hurt to check the fluid level.

The pad light looks like this (O)

You can shut the sensor off with a vag-com.

I don't even know how to read that pad sensor indicator.
What I was experiencing was the BRAKE light on the gauge cluster illuminating and ringing the interior chime.

2k is right for sure, brake fluid level sensor, check the brake fluid it's probably low. The fluidmoves around enough in the res for the switch to open/close causing the warning chime to come on.
