2000 S4 pcv replacement
So I was just on ecstuning, perusing through stuff when I came across this:
It looks like they changed out the PCV valve with a small breather filter. 1) am I correct in assuming thats what they did? and 2) what would be the benefit of doing that as compared to keeping the PCV valve?

it appears what they did was put in an oil catch can w/breather filter. the benefit to this is catching most of the excess oil that gets into the y-pipe, intercoolers, etc. pretty much helps to prevent blow-by. i think it might be a morosso catch can w/breather.
i'm looking into one of these myself. vast has a kit and so does 42 draft design that are pretty nice. this one is probably custom.

So I've been lookin online and found this one. It says in the description that I can use it to replace the PCV valve. How exactly would that work? Would I just run a length of hose from the catch can to the intake without the PCV in the middle? Or am I still required to have the PCV?

ok. this is where i am not 100%. i'm pretty sure its a straight up replacement for the stock pcv system. so it should plug in the same places the pcv system does. i just ordered one from vast. when i get it and instal it i'll have more info.
here are some custom set-ups i'm trying to get inspiration from.

This is my first post here, I am a long time az'er. I am wondering if you ever recieved your setup and if you had some info on it and what all it replaces. My spider hose is shot and I need to replace it and ive got quite a bit of oil in my DV hoses and Y pipe. So I wanted to add a catch can to it, I just was not looking forward to spending money on a new spider hose and a catch can kit.
