i crashed my 2001 audi s4 6spd. Everysince i crashed it its harder to switch gears and my 1-2 gears grind ... now it doesent want to go into 1st or 2nd gear at all but goes into all the toher gears but barley i brought it to the mechanic and they fixed it but i happened again i want top know what it might be becuase my mechanic is fixing it for free but he cant figure out what it is .... HELP!!!!

 

Syncros is what it sounds like to me.

 

Start with looking at the clutch master and slave. I couldn't get into gear becasue my clutch master was siezed. This was after I had my trans rebuilt so check that out before you rip your trans out.....But synchros are a common issue

Your shift collar is mushrooming the syncros and will eventually wear away the engagement teeth on the 2nd gear.

There are several versions of the collar and the syncros, and only certain syncros will work with certain collars.

 

yeah or jsut check if when you crashed you lost some tranny fluid or maybe you need to replace your syncros, mine did that all i did was replace the fluid and was fine.
