Im planning on doing some work to my 2001 imola S4 fairly soon and i was just wondering which type of exhaust is best upgrade in terms of sound quailty and horsepower gain.

I've been thinking about AWE's Twin2 (dual muffler) exhaust setup on my 2000 s4. First thing I'm gonna do is chip it though

 

My borla sounds amazing! i tell people to drive it just so i can hear them drive away! bought the car with the borla exhaust already on it. not sure about how much gained HP tho?

 

HP is about the same for all of them. Since sound & tone is very subjective, I suggest you find some S4 around you with exhaust & buy the one you like the sound of.
All the higher priced ones fit fine, I know AWE & ASP bolt right up with no problems.

If you are looking for the louder/loudest go with the AWE Twin 1.... I have ASP which cost $75 to get put on and it sounds perfect. Around town its not overbearing but it sounds like a performance car.... On the highway if you use cruise control you can't even tell you have aftermarket exhaust. Full throttle it gets louder but not obnoxious.... I was pleased because its exactly what I wanted. The AWE Twin 2 I would assume sounds like stock mostly except when your at full throttle then it gets a little louder than stock. The ASP has a nice deep healthy sound in my opinion. When it comes to Borla I haven't heard it in person so I can't vouche either way.


Oh and I should mention that I don't have downpipes yet but I can't wait to see how sweet the ASP sounds with them on- pay the extra money to get quality exhaust its worth it!
