exposing exhaust on 2001 A6 2.7T...
first post:
-how do i get my 2001 A6's exhaust to show like that of a 2002 A6?
-is that rear plastic cover replaceable? If so, where can i pick one up?
-will i need to buy exhaust tips or something to extend the pipes?
thank you.

It is actually quite simple. Just have straight aftermarket tips welded onto the stock mufflers and have the rear valence cut to expose the tips. The 2001 and earlier bumper is actually one piece, so you cannot just replace the black valence.
I did this for my 2001 2.7T, magnaflow 4" angle cut tips that I got from www.fle-com (Full Line Exhaust)...
The cutouts are lined with common chrome door edge trim available at any auto parts store.

Yeah i hate the way audi hid the tips on the A6 that way, boston driver's modification is simple and looks great, but make sure you get an exhaust like his that fills the entire cut out so it doesn't look like it has been cut. Another thing you might wanna try to do is buy the exhaust you want first then measure the diameter of the tips and have the exhaust shop cut it and align it for you.

I didn't like that pipe was hidden also. so I did mine, but I fucked up cutting so now I gotta make some nice molding around with with fiberglass..
and still haven't made on yet.

I was just thinking about this on the way into the office this morning. Is there a good body kit out there that has the cut-outs already there? I also saw a guy on the way in that just removed the bottom piece. Did'nt look that bad.
