RE: 2004 s4 questions...
Audi of America includes 4 years/50K miles included regular maintenance. Did you buy new or used? As far as I know both the warranty and scheduled maintenance are transferable. Do you have the manual? It will tell give you details.

RE: 2004 s4 questions...
hi, i did not buy yet. i am going to pick it up tomorrow or friday if everything is okay.
thanks for the info, much appreciated.
only thing holding me back is the s4 is being sold at mb dealer... car has less than 10k on it... dealer says no accidents... but does NOT guarantee it. i am super paranoid that one day after i buy the car that the dealer is going to say 'warranty is void... car was in an accident".

RE: 2004 s4 questions...
Have the dealer run a carfax on it. It will show the history...can't show acciedent history unless it was 'totalled' but it will give you some information to base your decision on. I am guessing that since it is a benz dealer the car does not have the audi certified pre-owned warranty. I would suggest that you get this. It will cover the car for 6 years or 100k. Does not cover maintenance, and does have a $50 deductable per visit....but I think well worth it.
Something to be aware of....early 04 models had some engine and transmission problems. Check the build date of the car. I can't remember the exact dates that had the problem, I think it was any of the 04's that were built in 03....I would avoid if possible.
If you can't get this car with an extended warranty, then you might try looking at an audi dealership. Here in the North East there were lots of low milage 04s that were available. I got a new 04 in April of 05. Because the 05 and the B7 05.5 had already come out, got a great deal.
BTW...I love the car....
Good Luck

Being an 04 with only 10K on the clock, you will still be covered by the factory warranty, no need for the extended warranty. You should still have around three years and 40k miles left. If there are any major problems the factory original warranty will apply.

Question: when i click the "CHECK" button it runs through a sequence. in that sequence it shows the mark for oil pressure being off, in red. it also shows brakes in yellow. it shows a few other things. but when its done, it reads "OK". so, are those things in need of repair or does it naturally illuminate red and yellow in the self test?

RE: 2004 s4 questions...
The color of the items indicates if you should stop imediately or if you should service as soon as possible, red being the stop imediately. When you do the Check it is running through a self diagnostic to see if there are any problems, if it reads OK at the end you are good to go. If there is a problem, as soon as you pull it out of Park, the info center will light up with whatever is wrong accompanied by a tone. Hope this helps out.
