So apparently the infamous second gear synchro just went out on my '00 s4 and I was told that you had to by all 6 synchros (or at least I should anyway) and that you can't buy just the one. And all 6 is going to costs me $1K. Any thoughts or advice as to whether this info is right or suggestions as to the best way to go about doing this job to those of you who have had do to this before?? Just curious...

^^ this.. its almost to good of a deal to pass up. for another grand have scotty get you a completely rebuilt one with strengthened everything. i know its going to be my next trans....

 

i just rebuilt my 01e. to replace the 1-2 shift collar you pretty much take all the other gears off , so replacing the rest of the syncros causes no extra labor, just pressing off 4th gear. The 1-2 shift collar is the expensive part, while the syncros are cheaper... maybe only $200 more to do them all... worth it in my opinion to do all syncros. I got scotty's kit from advanced automation..... good stuff.

 

I'm in need of a rebuild kit and keep hearing scottys name! Any chance of getting a orice on a full rebuild including the 1-2 sycro shift collar. Please help!
