95 S6 won't start...need help
My a4 did the same thing. i was in the middle of a rain storm at almost the exact same milage. the car just stopped while driving at 35 mph. fuel pump just decided to quit! then i had to walk a mile home in the rain cause it was 3 am and couldnt get ahold of anyone. funny huh!
My 7 year old was helping me check for spark...I think that was part of the problem there.
Anyway, I cannot hear anything "cycling" when I turn the key. I thought I heard a very faint buzzing sound, but it is so faint I may be imaging it.
My fuses are on the side of the dash...is that where I should be looking for the relay? And what will that tell me when I find it?
Assuming it is the fuel pump, where is that and how hard is it to replace?
Appreciate you guys hanging with me on this. Been a M5 guy for a while and this my first Audi so I need a little extra help.

Might be able to acess the fuel pump from the trunk. If it's quiet where you live you should hear the pump. Another way to check but pretty messy is unhook the fuel rail and see if it's pumping fuel and holding pressure. You said you recently changed out the ignition? Any chance some wires have come loose? I understand your frustrations but keep working on her you'll figur eit out. (I had a e39 540 m-sport)
Ok, back from vacation and time to get this car back on the road where it belongs. I pulled the fuel rail...bone dry while cranking. Also dry at the fuel filter. (Again, timing belt is OK) I assume the next step is to replace the filter. Is access via the trunk? If so, where? It looks like the fuel lines run along the passenger side of the car so I guess it's on the right side of the trunk under the side panel. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Car still isn't on the road. Was all set to replace the fuel pump but now the car fires up, idles rough and then stumbles and dies. It wasn't even turning over until I disconnected all the fuel lines in the trunk and at the filter and then re-assembled. I will change the fuel filter tomorrow, but I doubt that is it.
I don't really understand it because I did pull the fuel rail before and it didn't seem to be pumping any fuel.
Any ideas? I have other cars to drive so I am not going to give up and take it to a shop.
