Hey I just sold my A4 about a week ago and looking to buy an S4. I loved my A4 b5 and put about 10k into the car but i really wanted the 2.7bi-turbo sound. Just a little worried of the turbos. I would like to start with handling then power which means that the k03 will have to do for a while but I will be replacing them with k04s. So I was hoping you guys could help me out with info on your guys personal experience with the turbos and any other problems with this brilliant car.

it all depends on the owner & how the car was maintained as to how long the turbos last..

 

just try and find a stock (not chipped) car if your really worried about the turbos going. ad like buddahhh said, be patient. if you're closer to a city more s4's will pop up for sale. be picky because if u dont get what u want, u wont be happy.
some other stuff to looks for.. if its over 70K miles, make sure the waterpump and timing belt have been replaced/ if not, ask for $1,000 off because thats what the average cost its part and labor. some ofthe k03's can run for a long time, some a lot less... it's like a game of poker but it's kind of nice to haer the turbo lady when u do want to eventually go stage 3

if you really worried like sweeds said make sure its not chipped. And if your really worried look for 2001s and 2002s they have the revised oil lines that are bigger lessening the chance of the turbos poopin on you

 

Okay guys thanks, I will take my time for sure. As soon as I get it I will put some pics up for you guys. I am going to try to get a blue S4. Also I was reading that the 2002 S4 seem to have less problems, is this true question mark

 

If you are worried about the turbo's get another car. If you plan on keeping it for a while, some day, the Turbo Lady will come knocking!
