Default a6 buildup with a 2.7t

ight this is the deal, I just picked up this beautiful 02 a62.7t. Im looking to get some more horses but also maintain reliability. I was lookingat the s-flow intake, 2 1/5 cat-back with magnaflows, and a unitronic chip. I just hit 65k on the motor. Now i brought the car to audi and had a tec look at it. He said the car was mint inside and out and the turbos run strong. Before i do the chip i think i should do the timing belt, water pump, etc. Now should i look into getting the rs4 turbos for saftey reason or will the stock turbos do the job. Keep in mind i drive 50 miles a day just to work. Also should i look into intercooler upgrades. Throw me some ideas.

To start off congrats. Next the a6 does not eat turbos as much as s4's for some reason(i think breathing but im not going to say something with no proof). But there is proof that the s-flo is not necessary and also can be worse when using k03s.Best bet is to remove your airbox and cut or drill the bottom and cover with mesh this is also called a "darintake". If you want to increase reliability a start with the basics, replace anything that could or is known to go bad. First is the throttle body boot aka TBB. You can replace is with a stronger silicone boot or the "bullet proof" apr bipipe. Next would be diverter valves aka DV's. Many people including me highly recommend OEM 710n's but many other tuners make their own new and greatest is the APR R1. Next and more expensive would be intercoolers. Just about any aftermarket are better than stock. Many companies are in the R&D or just released great new products so keep an eye out. The three main right now are RS4, AWE, and ER. Next would be exhaust. This is all up to you. Find something where you like the sound. Most exhausts will give the same gain. You will not notice a large difference unless you are looking for very high power. The best exhaust mod for our cars are "PiggiePipes". These are stock downpipes with gutted main cats to increase flow and free up power. Vastperformance.com was the originator of these and will make them for your car. Now to the fun part! A chip. Realistically a chip reduces reliabilty for the fact or higher boost, more power, and just not being stock. But being a devils advocate there are people with a chipped car that have almost 200k miles on the clock. When looking at buying a chip your best bet is to use who your local tuner reps. They are all truly great at what they do. I would wait on upgrading the turbos unless you have over $5000 burning a hole in your pocket. I really hope this helps.

again congrats, look into the FAQ's page at the top, It'll tell you everything you need to know about the motor! I suggest doin the timing belt b4 100k just like everyone else. You could probably easily get another 25k out of it with a chip and stuff. There is lots of NUT you can make with these motors just with l;ittle mods and stuff like the darintake and the DIY piggies. Supposedly intercoolers arent gonna make big HP unless your gonna go stage 3 and DV's are an important replacement. Baic maintainance is a key to keep those motors and the turbos running strong! Again GL
