about to purchase 2000 S4 questions
hey guys,
Ok, so i might be purchasing a 2000 S4 with KO4 turbos.
how do i know if the transmission is gonna go bad soon?
it's got 121K miles.
what should i look for?
here's some info on the car:
KO4 turbos, Labree downpipes, achtuning oil cooler, samco engine hose kit, RS4 clutch, shortshifter, bilstein control arms/shocks, eibach springs, nuespeed rearsway, RS4 motormounts, apr snub mount, fiberimages carbonfiber hood, drivetrain stabilizer bar. Car has NEVER been CHIPPED. auxillary audio input from cdc wires. Very well maintained, runs excellent. Oil changes done personally and routinely with Mobil 1 Synthetic (0w-40).

Sounds very good. HOWEVER i highgly doubt that someone that put that ammount of $$$ into their S4 has never chipped it. Especially with K04's and the toher 5,000 worth of $$$ give or take. but yea check the Timing belt and all that i owuld reccommend the Pre purchase inspection with a mechanic your trust.
Full STG 3, with out the chip. LOL, that's funny! I bet they ripped off the STG 3 fueling & sold it.
There is no WAY anyone did that work to the car with a chip.
We have NO WAY to tell you when the trans is going to go. If it is on it's way out, the car will make a not of gear type noises, be very hard to get into gear (mostly 1st & 2nd), might pop out of gear. This would not be something to get hung up one. Chances are the clutch will go out first, and 6sp trans are not all that expensive (relativity speaking).
Yes, get the car checked out, something about it just doesn't sound right.
