Attention Those w/ Bad/Fading Instument Clusters!!!!
Done! You can also do it on line at www.nhtsa.dot.gov Make sure you say yes to the question about releasing this information to the manufacturer.
You have to choose Volkswagon of America, Inc as the manufacturer. Then choose Audi from the next drop down.

Not a safety issue, there will be no recall in the US.
A recall is only issued if the problem is a safety concern.
There is no safety information displayed on the info center.
I have a close friend that is a DOT/NHTSA liason, I drilled him about it after reading this on Audizine.......all of the information displayed is optional displays, not necessary information.
For instance, I asked him, "what if I can't tell if a door is ajar?", he said that it is optional to display that information, he did say however that if a door dinger were to not work, that would issue a recall if 20% of the total number of vehicles (ofone particular model/year/options/etc.,)produced complained about it failing.
I also asked him what if I couldn't read what gear I was in, he said that it is not necessary for a mfr to put that on the dash.
I don't see anything on our dashes that are safety related.
I would love to see this happen because mine has lines out too, but it doesn't look good.

I would see safety issues if the faded dash reveals engine temperature or oil pressure issues. I was driving this morning and got that annoying ding and could not read what popped up on the information center.
Does anyone have a link to what the diagnostic function of the dash scrolls through (when you push the left pin)? I have identified 9 items but can't make out what they are??
