I am considering getting an Audi and I am stuck between two choices. Either an A4 with the V6 or an S4 Bi-Turbo. Both cars would be high mileage cars, also they would be driven in Rochester, NY where it gets really cold. The car will be out in the lot at night, and this includes winter. I want the A4, but want a moderatley quick car so I am looking at the S4. So here are the questions...

1. Reliability?
2. Service costs?
3. Snow handling?
4.Gas Mileage?

and any other pointers and advice.

Service costs are out the *** if you dont have a warranty (which will probably happen if you get a high milage car). Reliability, isnt terrible, but at the same time isnt great. Tjhe a4 will definetly be less of a cost in service costs, and wont break as often. Snow handling the 2 will be basically the same, except the s4 will be sportier on snow and on dry land since it has an upgraded suspension from the a. Gas mileage isnt bad in the S4, and im not sure how it is on the a4. I get around 20-22mpg if in driving conservatively (which is a rarity in this car).

 

What kind of services shouldve already been done on a 90K plus S4? What things should I definately look into as far as parts and wear??

Make sure the timing belt service has been completed on either vehicles if they are over 70k miles.
