Default Autocross Tomorrow!!!

Hey all! i just got back from the import car show in carlisle (28miles south of harrisburg) it was GREAT some sweet audis, countless volvo and saab, mg, triumph, citrone, bemmers, lotus ect. ect. dyno testing (2wheel drive car only) LOTS of vendors. anyway what really got my junk in knots was the autocross track. nothing amazing butAWESOME to me. im so pumped up. i spent most of my time there watching. i was all go to give it a try today, but as i work the night shift and i went to the show right after work... i didnt want to **** anything up do to being a bit sleepy. no worry, i am home now having a cuple drinks, get some good sleep. tomorrow i will be there on the track!!! its exciting for me as it will be my first time, also a little nervous... iv already talked the guy that works on my car to see if he would advise against it "are you kidding thats what those cars was basicly built for" then he tried to talk me into coilovers for it lol . anyway i know how to drive , if i do say so myself and i have some basics down "slow in fast out...." but any advice anything ? its 25 bucks for 9 laps 3 at a time. ima cruze the first one and take it from there

but any advice or expeirence? full tank of gas, half?? esp on, off?? if i feel a certin something or hear a noise should i stop ?

i cant wait! it will be filmed on an old *** vid camera , so it wont make it online or anything but ill have my girl get some digi pix

this excitement really brings me back to a little kid ... i feel like i did the first time i went to a skate park

Autocross is alot of fun, im sad the season has started and im not a part of it. You really will want coilovers after tomorrow. No radio, no AC, no lights etc. Take out the tool kit, spare, and floor mats (they might make you remove the mats and tool kit anyways) ESP should allways be off, and id go with half a tank or less, just what you need for fuel. NEVER look in your mirrors, sit kinda close to the wheel with hands at 9 and 3 so you can turn the wheel 180* either way without taking your hands off.

Get there early and walk the course so you know it all in advance, then take the first lap slow and speed up from there. Remember slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Dont be overly agressive, when you hear alot of tire screeching its just scrubing speed and your going slower. It dosnt matter how fast you go, if you go of course 1ce and miss a gate then run dosnt count.

Also, dont hit the cones where i go its like +1 sec per cone

There are from the team challenge event i went to last fall, last event of the year. It was like late october so it was less than 40* and the Falken RT-615 summer rubber sucked, i pretty much tore them to shreds that day. Only time iv spun out at autox was the first run of that day, i didnt launch but got hard on the throttle before the first turn and just spun 270*. Autocross is great fun.

Leaving the gate

I covered my car in blue painters tape it took a looooong time, my team actually won a prize for it. We let people draw on our cars with sharpies. BTW im allways #144 just because of alex roy and team politzeil in gumball. He owned a B5 S4 too...

*it was absolutely amazing!!! I out preformed my expectations.... by 6 seconds. my first lap around i reached my goal for the day, every lap after that was shorter, and shorter, and shorter. I got an extra 3 laps too. i will post pics once i get them on!!!! im in love, my new addiction. I told my girl "when we become rich and have LAND, screw a pool im having a little track put in!
Im hooked

most fun you can have with your clothes on!

ill start another thread when i post pics! our digit camera died while we were there we got 1 pic and it sucked... but this one guy was there and took 60 pics of my car really really good ones. he said hed e-mail them/some to me by tues. night as he has hunderds to go through ! I cant wait. we filmed it all iv wtched it twice and i cant wait for the next one ... first sunday next month!

Good news, cant wait to see the pictures. I havent yet been on a real roadcorse, but i have a feeling its even more fun that autocross.

I also race with the SCCA, new england region. They are very professional IMO at least where i go. Some other clubs are a little more reckless as far as safety goes and let track speeds get a little higher. Obviously more speed = more fun but there are also drawbacks, as it tends to draw a different crowd sometimes.

Did you feel like you could benefit from a stiffer suspension with less body roll? IE coilovers
