AWE BOOST GAUGE QUESTIONS - SLOW NEEDLE

I just put my gauge (awe) and its acting strange. My friend has a same year s4 as mine and his needle jumps to -18 when he turns on his car. Mine on the other hand slowly slowly gets to -18. Then when I'm driving (my car is chipped) it will slowly spike to maybe 5 psi tops. At first I thought it might be a boost leak or something but my car sounds like its running great. Im starting to think maybe its just my gauge instead. Also when he revs his engine in neutral his needle jumps and mine doesn't. Anybody know whats up?

RE: AWE BOOST GAUGE QUESTIONS - SLOW NEEDLE
I haven't installed the AWE on mine yet (it's in the mail), but when I did on my GTi I screwed it up and it did the same stuff. Turns outI hooked it up to some randomsensor line coming off the turbo outlet pipe (I used to think all lines after the turbo were created equal). I just fixed it by hooking into the fuel pressure regulator line, which was tapped right into the intake manifold.

Just make sure you're connected to a legitimate vacuum/pressure line, and all your fittings are good& tight.Otherwise the gauge might actually be bad (oryour chip is screwy, but that's unlikely).

I had the same thing happen to my awe gauge on my a4. Worked great for 4 months then the needle started to stick, sold the car left the gauge in it.

Some lines on some cars have little restrictive orfices in them to slow how fast the pressure changes so that might be the case. go for another line

First, make sure there are NO KINKS in the line. Just a little one will do this. The other thing is where did you tap the boost line?

If you want to test the gauge, take it out, & put it right off the DV line, see what reads, hit the gas a little, vacuum will change, but you should not boost out of gear.
