Default B5 S4 Stand alone computer vs chip

Hey everyone I have a 2000 s4 6 speed and I'm curious to find out which is better in all aspects like tuning, cost, everyday driving, and performance gains ...... a stand alone computer or a chip?? and if I'm gonna be adding parts which will be more effective, I'm actually still new to the Audi family so lemme know what guys think

the only stand- alone i have found that is designed for our cars is the 034 one. all the others like aem and megasquirt can work but require custom wiring as opposed to a pre-fab harness that plugs right in. i wanted to aem stand alone for a while and there are some people who have used it, but its not perfect and not realy designed for our drive by wire cars. most just go with chip tunes and flashes, beacuse that has been all that has been offered to us for the most part.

the newest thing in the audi world is self tuning using Nefmoto's base tune, then tweaking it using the software provided on his site. check this out:

i'm not fond of chips because every time you upgrade a part you need to revise the tune and that can get pricey.
