I recently was looking for a B6 S4 w/ the 4.2L but was told to avoid the B6 because it had a cam sensor that went bad and required the engine to be removed to get to the valve covers. Estimates for this repair range from 2-3K and I read on the S4 forum that another guy was quoted almost 5K a few years back.

Has anyone heard of this issue? I was told it was avoided with the B7's on up. Any input is appreciated.

 

From what Ive seen its not an issue. Its the tensioners from what Ive seen..or read. Still there solid cars
