I bought a 2001 s4 yesterday, just started really driving it today. I've noticed after running the car up to 6k rpm in a few seconds it smells like wearing/heated rubber or something. I'm trying my best to describe it but it's hard to explain. There's no noises, and the smell only lasts for a few seconds.

Can anyone help?

Is it inside the car? My car even if you have a little too much oil in it, it will make an oil burning smell.

those things leak oil like stuck pigs, if it hasnt been maintained.. and it could be the clutch slipping.

id look at cam adjuster seals, valve cover gaskets, and cam seals.. just check for oil leaks period..
