Default Buying a 2001 s4

Looking at a 2001 s4 with about 84k on the odometer. Any suggestions, reasons not to buy it, or things I need to look out for?

thanks!

Keep in mind that maintenance could be high on this vehical. I'd have the turbos looked at by a mechanic.

That all depends on wether u can do it yourself? Where u buy the parts and who installs it. The dealer charges like 2000 for a new KO3 turbo, so replacing them can be very pricey at the dealer.

yea.. i'm done messing with cars, so I take tham to get worked on. If I end up replacing them, wouldn't it be smarted to go with a hi-pro replacement as opposed to stock?

I'm not sure how a mechanic is going to be able to tell you that a turbo is going bad or not. Unless it's making some serious noise, but then you wouldn't need a mechanic to tell you that.

Check to see if the timing belt and water pump has been done. That's $1K service right there.

You would be better off putting K04's in there IF you needed to replace them. Don't let the hype scare you about the turbo's. There are plenty of S4's with high mileage on stock turbos (mine is one of them). 106K stock turbo's and clutch.

So pretty much, you have no idea what life is left on the turbos when purchasing a used S4?

I am in the market for a 2000 S4, but i dont want to have to deal with tons of maint. costs after I get it. I plan on just chip at first and maybe exhaust later on. What would it cost to have an Audi dealership check out the car? Pretty much all the used S4's around here have 50-90k miles on them. Anything special I should look for, or feel when driving?

First post btw!

noooo you have no idea what life is left on the turbos when purchasing a used S4 if serviced well it can outlast you but no guarantees, take a mechanic with you if you feel unsure he could save you lots

Just hardware you're looking at $2600. Then while you in there you might as well do a clutch.
