Can the dealer screw up my Tune?
Hi guys,
The S4 (year 2000) had its rearwheel bearing done yesterday by the dealer. It was howling loud, but now is nice and quiet just as it should be. I was all smiles when I picked it up. That is until I stepped on the gas.
I did have a engine light on when I went in so they said they checked the codes and all that. What bugs me though is that my car was strong asever when I took it to the dealer but now when I step on the gas that surge of power above 3k is just not there.
I have had the check engine codes cleared by autozone before and my car still pullled hard with or without them.
Is there anyway you know of that the dealer could screw up my settings on the ECU? I used to be able to do 0-60mph in 4.9 seconds. I haven't had it measured since but I feel like I am driving my Jeep not my S4.
Am I just in some sort of limp mode right now, and my car will wake up in a couple days, or am I just screwed?

Whew!
Guess I was just in limp mode since the dealer poked around in the ecu. Burned through a half a tank of gas trying to wake the s4 up and in the middle of an acceleration run...pow....power has returned.
My theory is that my car didnt like others touching it and was just laying low until it knew it was safe to come out again.
Anyway its all good and thanks to those that spent their time to read/help with thisthread.
