Default chip

Is it worth getting a chip (REVO or GIAC) for a 06 S4???

Default RE: chip

spend the money on exhaust instead, unless you alrready have and have $500 making a whole in your pocket.

Default 2005 S4 got Chipped, GIAC

I just got the GIAC software flashed into my B6S4 and it cost me a whopping $675.00 for the basic 91 octane program. So, I didn't get the race program, valet program or kill program. Jeff from Torque Factory did the work and I guess that I got charged $75 for his labor as the chip runs for $599.00 everywhere else. Whatever, the case is I am trying to feel the difference and this is what I have noticed so far.

1. The accelerator delay, from the drive by wire throttle, is now gone and the car is easier to shift smoothly. Funny first gear starts are a thing of the past.

2. The rpm's now climb a little bit faster.

3. The exhaust is more growly and sounds a little better.

Is the car faster? It's hard to tell as the smoothness and the freer revving engine make it feel slower. Didn't pull any numbers before the upgrade with my G-Tech so I can't say for sure is there is any gain in my 0 to 60 performance. However, on the highway the car does feel very fast and responsive and there is a noticable improvement in the cars performanance.

By the Way, I am using mixed gasoline (3 gal 101 & 12 gal 91) and don't know what the performance is going to be like with standard 91 octane gas.

Would I do it over again? Don't know yet! I only drive the car on the weekends and haven't had much time with it chipped. I'll reply over the holidays and report on the improvements. By the way, the cars ECU is probably still on a learning curve and will need a few miles to get acquainted with my driving style.
