I'm getting an annoying squeak that seems to be coming from the Climate Control unit in the dash. When I turn it off, squeak goes away. If I turn it on, heat or AC, it comes back. Anyone seen this before.

I searched but couldn't find anything specific.

Most likely the fan motor. I noticed it once recently when I drove my wifes allroad, but only one time. We ended up trading the allroad on the S6 so didn't bother getting it checked. Could also be the fan itself. Pretty sure it's one of those two.

Don't know if there's any lubrication points on the fan motor, would be a lot cheaper than a new one (probably $250 plus install which could be a lot).

 

Here's thread about fan noise problems some people had wih Bimmers. They just lubed the points where the fans attach to the motor. I have no idea how to get to an Audi fan or motor.

Theres a little motor and fan in the ac control unit that sucks air in to measure interior temp. Pull out the radio and unplug the little fan on top of the ac control head. If the noise goes away you need a new one. Asperator fan or motor or something like that. Thats what its called
