Damn Audi: All dash warning lights on, limp home in fourth only, gear indicator invert
Ok, now thanks to all of you (I LOVE FORUMS! yeah) the solutions are appearing. It definitely does sound like something Global--it's too many weird things happening at the same time.
Please explain to me that why, after I:
1.disconnect/reconnect the battery (to reset the warning lights)
2. start the car up, see that it pushes a normal 14.3V at idle, but the 3 warning lights are still on and the transmission goes right into 4th as soon as Drive is engaged with a clunk, AND it even clunks into Reverse in my driveway? I don't rev it up-- just let the car idle and the problems are still around.
At idle, if the 'faulty' alternator is pushing 14.3V, and a good alternator pushes the same 14.3 V, why the heck would things get better? Granted, I do need to replace it because it pushes WAY to Many Volts at higher RPM.
I hope you are right Red_One.
Paint-*****, I'm too afraid to touch this damn car.
