Default Decided to keep my S4 and mod it...

I've leased beautiful silver 2001 S4 that I've decided tobuy after the lease period ends. I've also decided to mod it. I'll be honest and say that I'm basically a total newbie when it comes to car tuning. What suggestions would youguys have as to where to start first? Exhaust, performance chip, new turbochargers? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.</P>

Well if you get new turbos youll need a new chip anyways and chances are they recomend and exhaust upgrade as well so probly all of them at once would be best

This is a question that has been repeated over and over again.

Please....... STFA, then ask.

BTW: Terms you should know...

DV=Diverter Valve
TBB=Throttle Body Boot
IIRC=If I ReCall
IMHO=In My Honest Opinion (Also IMO)
STFA=Search The Forum Archives
BTW=By The Way

Thought I'd throw this in to the forum so that we can refer to it later.

The Newbie Guide to some Frequently Asked Questions

1. What's a turbo timer? Do I need one? Is it easy to install? Does it work with the factory alarm?
A turbo timer will enable you to NOT have to wait in the car as your turbo cools down.
You don't need one; it's more of a convenience item. It is easy to install and does not affect the factory alarm. However, if you have one of the new alarms with an engine delay, the delay will work the same way as the turbo timer, therefore the TT is not needed at all.

2. What's a BPV (or DV)? What's a BOV? BOV vs. BPV? Is a BOV a good mod?
A BPV (DV) is a Bypass Valve (Diverter Valve).
A BOV is a Blow Off Valve.
A BOV vents excess pressure generated b/w shifts to the atmosphere, thus purging the air OUT of the intake tract. A BPV RECIRCULATES the purged air and keeps it IN the intake tract.
For Audi turbo systems, utilizing a BOV is NOT a good idea as it will cause a rich condition (i.e. less air to fuel ratio) and cause damage to the cat, soot on the exhaust pipes, occasional misfiring due to the loss of the purged air, etc.

3. What are some good aftermarket exhausts?
APR
AWE
Borla
Forge-Milltek
MTM
Neuspeed
and a few others

4. Which chip is best?
Many are good. The two most popular are: GIAC and APR.
Others are:
ABT
MTM
Wetteraurer
and a few others
It is best to go with a local tuner in case of unseen problems that may arise from chipping.

5. Should I upgrade my BPV/DV if I chip? Which one is best?
Yes, it is a good idea to upgrade the BPV/DV because the chip might cause your OEM BPV/DV to fail and leak boost.
Popular brands:
Bailey
Forge
Hyperboost and Hyperboost HX (by Stramosphere)
There is also the stock TT BPV (also known as the 710N: Audi PN# 06A-145-710-N)
