Default diverter valve check prob

i found a forum that showed you how to check your d.v by placing your finger over the top(where thread is)and pushing in with a pen at the bottom. the forum saida working d.v should hold open untill you release your finger. i have 2 bailey d.v's and mine dont do that, they just snap shut. is that correct. i took them apart and they are very clean and dry as a bone. 1 has a little wear mark on the wall but it is smoth. i cant find any thing on how to clean and service them.would this caulse my boost bouncing at 3/4 throttle. thank you

This will only work on valves that actually seal around the piston, such as our valves (Forge), and the test being quoted is from our service guide. I'm not familiar with the Baileys so I don't know if this is the case with them or not but many valve manufactures use very loose piston to valve wall tolerances that prevents them from making a tight enough seal for that test to work.

If the are the diaphragm valves they won't need to be serviced. If they are piston units I usually recommend that the valves be checked once or twice a year for a daily driven car that doesn't see duty in extreme environmental conditions. More for cars used in the desert or in extreme cold. This is just a precaution really as we have had feedback from people that have never needed to actually service the valves after years of use

This pdf will outline how to service the valve and how to test its operation:
