Default Fog light issue

Reposting from the General Tech forum:

have a question about the wire behind the fog light. This is on a B5 S4.

A little while ago, my fog light cracked and I never fixed it. So today, I took off the grill and unscrewed the fog light. It came off, it had no light bulb anymore (http://db.tt/AYouVNlx) My problem is that it was not connected to a wire. I looked behind the rubber guard and saw the wire. It seems really hard to get to. Does anyone know which way it's supposed to make it's way to the fog light? It doesn't seem long enough. I'm afraid to stick my hand in there and get shocked or something.

Funny enough, a while ago, I took my car to a mechanic to fix another issue and he mentioned that he could fix the lens on the fog light for $50. At the time, I figured it was way too much for just a lens. Now I'm shopping for a fog light and ECS is selling it for $240+, used parts websites sell it for around $160+. What was my mechanic talking about before? is there a cheaper replacement for this?

By the way, this has been unattended for a number of months. I'm almost afraid to shell out the money for fog lights only to find that it won't work. Does anyone have any ideas what sort of things I could prepare myself for? Messed up wiring? Fixes for it?

there should be a plug on the back of the fog light that the wire goes into. i'm guessing that it got pulled out of it.

I see the wire, but it's behind the rubber shield. How do I get it through? Do I need to be worried about getting shocked?

unplug your battery. make sure you know the radio code before you disconnect the battery.

Hoping someone can help me locate a missing wire. I recently bought a used fog light and was going to install the passenger side fog light. I got under the car and I couldn't find the wire to power it. I took photos of the area right behind the fog light. Can someone tell me where it is? Or if someone can take a photo of their own so I can see where it's connected to? Even better would probably be a part number. I have a feeling mine is gone

Thanks for any help!
