Default Gas Leak?!
So like 3 or 4 times now when i've started my car for the first time of the day, and its really cold (like -10 f) The inside of the car has just reeked like gas. It runs completely fine, and once i'm driving the smell goes away, and doesn't come back. It usually doesn't happen, but something is definately wrong. I really can't say for sure that it's leaking gas under the car either, one of the times i thought there might be a little drip spot. But the gas smell when it happens is just horrid inside the car... Wondering if anyone has had this issue or know what it could be? I know i should get it checked out asap, but i won't have enough money this week to take it in i don't think... (2000 s4 6 speed)

check your fuel lines out for rotting and not uncommon because they used cheap pig iron for the piping so it rusts like hell

okay thanks. It's just weird to me beause it only does it every so often... It smells like gas under the hood i just noticed, more down by the airbox. I'd think if it were a fuel line i would be losing performance and mpg, i'm a noob to audi's tho so who knows...

i have just had the same problem with my car ...every morning i would go out after remote starting my car and it would reek like gas and im wondering what the hell..well iu popped the hood took the covers off and noticed that one of the lines was leaking the one that is right on the left of the motor while looking at it...it is the pressure line going to the rail...so my mechanic took it off then just rethreaded it and put it back on and i have had no problems after it that was like 3 weeks ago...i guess theres a o-ring at the end going to the rail so maybe that needs replacing...so i def suggest bringing it to the mechanic a.s.a.p..gas is nothing to play with you leak it on your motor your motor gets hot and wellyou know what happens after that.....so GET IT LOOKED AT.....keep us posted...

Same thing happened to my wife's 1999 A4 1.8t. Today the line on the fuelrail that is threaded was leaking. I removed it ,cleaned the threads and put thread sealant on it and it seems fine. But I think I will order a new line.

I had the same problem, took off engine cover and it was leaking from injector o-rings. Replaced o-rings no more gas smell or leaks.

Any techs know about how much it costs to have the leaky fuel line fixed. I just found out mine is leaking. I can see slow dripping coming from the rear passanger side.[&o]
