Default help no heat and vacuum leak

First of all I think i have a blocked heater core. When my car is just at idle i get no heat whatsoever. However if i turn of the heater and let it run for a minute and turn the heat back on i get heat for about 10 seconds and then it fades. If i am driving however and my rpm is above 2000 then i can get continuous heat but its still not very hot. My coolant temps are reading perfectly right in the middle all the time. Also I am due for a timing belt and water pump could it be the water pump that isn't operating efficiently. Any advice on what I should do would be great.

Also a while ago i was driving hard and suddenly i lost boost and power completely. I heard a loud hissing noise when i accelerated and my engine was chugging hard. As i got to a place where I could pull over I realized that i lost my power assist brakes also. I opened the hood and found the hissing was coming from behind the intake. It was the top of a black plastic thing(technical term i know but i dont know what it is) that had broken off. I stuck it back on and since it was cone shaped as long as it stayed in vacuum and not boost it stayed on there, but as soon as i got on boost it blew it off. I had some epoxy so I simply epoxyed it back on very carefully. I hope this was ok but i need my car to get to work. This piece i think is a vacuum pump but im not sure. My codes now say that i have a minor vacuum leak, my guess is that my epoxy job wasnt perfect and this is the leak. Anyway my question is what is this part and where can i find one and is this most likely the vac leak. Thanks for reading and i would very much appreciate some help, thank you.

Have you scanned your climate control system? It doesn't sound like it's the problem, but it's a good place to start. Use your VAG to scan.
