Yes another S4 purchase question. Im looking at an S4 only over the internet and the guy says it has BOSE. Ive got pics of the stereo and a speaker. Should these say BOSE on them if it has it or did all S4's come with bose? THis one just says Audi Symphony.

Next, I think it's a good deal but would like to hear your opinions. 2000 S4 56k miles for 17500. No warranty or anything but it looks good.

OK thats it.

I need this with the quickness as I will probably purchase the car in the next day or two if it checks out.

I have an 01 s4 and my bose speaker covers say bose on them. If you do not have a bose system, then you have the audi symphony system. So I'd imagine that car does not have the bose stereo unless he upgraded it.

As far as the price, it seems fair. But with 56k miles, I would hold out for one with a certified pre-owned warranty. Ask if the turbos or anything else was replaced recently, if they weren't then I'd pass on it. Any s4 you buy is going to be risky, but thoroughly look into the car and make sure he kept up on all maintenance (can get maintenance records from an Audi dealer if you get the VIN #). Most people say to get an 2001.5 s4 or 2002 because of some changes they made to the vehicle. Last thing you want if to buy this car and have to drop $5-10k into it to get it running at 100% or the turbos, etc die in the near future.

Hey, without knowing much more about the car, it sounds ok so far.
As far as the BOSE, goes, the speakers will say BOSE in the older models for sure, at least mine do, and the stereo says Audi Symphony. My understanding is that the amps and speakers are BOSE. (Till someone else responds and corrects me or gives all the technical info.)

However, feel out the seller. Did they take good care of it? Any modifications done on the car? Anything replaced under warranty. Let the seller talk about the car and how they took care of it and find out what it was primarily used for, etc

Usually if it's clean in and out and they talk about regular maitanance, adult driven, car washes regularly and the like, you know they took care of it and it should be ok. The price sounds "fair". (anything can happen with any car, make sure you really like the car and can deal with minor maitanance if it needs any and you should try to take it to a local Audi or any german compitant mechanic for a quick rundown before you buy.)

be carefull when buying an used s4. when i bought mine the next week sh#t started to happen. I also just blew my turbos.
hopefully this dosent happen to you. HAve it checked out and consider buying a warrenty for it, it will help you out for sure.
s4's are very nice cars hopefully i didnt scare you.

Thanks guys. Im thinkin the guy is lying about some things. First i cant make it out but i think it does not say BOSE on the speaker cover. Secondly he said that the wheels were $2500 wheels. I looked them up and they are $310 a piece. It does include a spare too but still it comes to under $2k with tires!
Im waiting on him to see if we can set up an escrow servie deal. I had it checked out by a mechanic and the guy said it was ok. If he accepts escrow then i would buy but now i found out about these things he may have lied about.

Dude, it looks fine, everything seems on the up and up.
You are buying without a warranty and you are paying what you are willing to pay.
You are getting what you are paying for.
If you want more, you'll have to pay more.
You could find a newer one with warranty and lower miles but you'll pay.
You've done what you're supposed to do, now...
The final decision is yours!
