i searched but couldnt find anything. has anyone converted their stock fogs with an HID kit? i know i would need to make my own harness to be able to stand up to added power. but is there anything else i should do besides buy an h7 hid conversion kit? if anyone has done it could you show me some pictures. so i can figure out if i am wasting my money.

 

i too am planning on doing it. I know someone on audizine has done it, may try a search there. im not positive its h7 you need. I believe it depends on the year though. i believe for the 02 its h4..but that may be just 02. I think you need to get a ballast and have a harnass someplace to hold that then your set. but im not positive.. i am going to investigate some..let me know if you find anything out.

 

i got my fog hids from www.visionbulbs.com good prices. I brought the 4300k h7 bulbs. They are brigter then my headlights because there is no projecters, like in the lowbeams the light goes everywhere

 

how did you mount the ballast and bulbs... and run the connections??

 

this is what i found so far. the oem fog will need to be retrofitted to fit the bulb. it appears that only a hole for the HID wires to go through. i found this detailed diy for an a4, it is really clean. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...91120#24291120

 

i just took apart the fog light. it would be a very similar process to the a4 diy i found. but something that i noticed is the housing for the fog is all plastic. im wondering if the added heat would melt it?

 

the guy that installed my hid fog put the ballast under the headlights mounted to the bumper frame somehow...

 

if you dont mind i ask, what type of place did you go to to have it done.
