Hey guys, i recently took my car in bc she was leakin from the oil pan, so they changed the oil pan gasket and gave it back to me the next day, on the ride home i could tell something was wrong just driving around town, but then i got on the on ramp and got on it and it was as slow as a minivan!!! So i looked at my boost guage and im only gettin 5 psi, when i took it in i was gettin around 16-17 psi with my GIAC X chip, so i took it back and it has been sittin in the shop for over a week and they dont have a clue what is wrong with it, do u guys have any ideas? I told the mechanic about that it might be on limp mode, but he said that limp mode is somethin that i would have to turn on b4 it brought it in to make sure that they wouldnt hot rod in it, so im really confussed, any input would be appreciated

your car did exactly what mine did before i finnaly clear it up myself. If you have
access to a VAG tool run it for codes. If you dont get any, it must be a boost leak.
check out every hoses and/or check for leaks with a leak test unit (AWE or you can
do it yourself, every component can be find at your local Home depot). You can also
disconnect your battery for 25 min, if you are in limp mode it should clear it off by
doing so. Ask what your mech has did so far, did he disconnect something he wasn't
supposed to ? Hope you'll be able to get it fix fast !

agree with what he said ^^^ . IMO it sounds liek its limp mode. Which..from my understanding.. Is not something you turn on, but soemthing that the car puts itself in when its having an issue as to limit power. Which i guess could happen from a boost leak. So, check if its setting off any codes.... and do a pressure test and i bet you find the problem.

 

k thanks, ive already tried unhooking the battery trick and it went straight back into limp mode or whatever. ill c if i can figure it out

 

Ok well my car is officially retarted, i picked it up from the shop after it being there for a week, and got on it to see if it was still in limp mode and it was, but then 10 minutes later (still on my way home) i got on it and i got all my boost back! i was so excited, so i got on it a few more times and i worked every time. The next mornin i crank her up and shes back in limp mode!!!! Its TICKIN ME OFF!!! So im gonna see if its throwin any codes
