Default How long..

Im in the market for a new car (once i sell my subaru) and im looking at a 2000 s4 that has 117,000 KMS on it, I was wondering how long do the 2.7l s4 motors usually live for. Its completely stock except for suspension/wheels.

thanks!

Toby

Its not the engine your really have to be worried about, specially if its stock. Its the turbos you want to worry about, those at that mileage could really go anytime, it all depends on how the car was driven by the previous owner. My 01 s4 has about 118k on it right now, and everything seems to be perfect with the engine/turbos but you just dont know. Make sure when you check it out that the turbos arent wining/whistling, that can mean bad turbos. Hope that was some help.

well even with a good owner, its still up in the air.. the k03's are just flat out unreliable and can go anytime.

agreed, the 2.7 V-6 is solid... don't worry about that, it'll last a looong time. just worry about the turbo's and other pricey things like 02 sensors and whatnot

I think thats a bit harsh sooks, the K03 is unreal when compared to the crap turbos on Saabs that pop like its going outa fashion[:'(]

Motor is like the Rock of Gibraltor!

If u can afford a lower mileage S4 get it, thats my advice and dont call me dad

and are crap when compared to the mitsu/subie turbos.. so thats kinda unfair in itself. I wasnt comparing it to anything. Just the fact that they aer simply unreliable. some people lose them at 40k miles.. some make it to 150k and many times there seems to be no rhyme or reason.

No one that I know of has blown a motor. They seam to be totally solid even with 500whp.

yes, the K03's are the downside, they go anywhere from 5000mi, to 200,000mi

I dont know what I would do right now if my k03's went.... I dont have the money to fix it. The car would be garaged until i got the money and I would definently upgrade to k04 then.
