okay i really need some snow tires and to fit them on my wheels it'd cost 700 dollars for new tires. waayy to expensive but would these fit my 01 s4? i know they would bolt up but im wondering about caliper clearance since they are only a 16in wheel. heres the link...

or i found a set of cable chains from tirechains.com for 30$ a pair that fit over the factory 225-45-17 tires. i dont have the owners manual so im not sure if chains are okay to run. i hate askin such noobish questions but id rather be safe than sorry

I don't think those wheels will fit, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I'm thinking they would rub one the caliper since even my 04 S4 rims did. You'd have to test fit em but I'm thinkin that isn't very much much an option for you though.

Wow, man. Cables?
That must be some heavy sh*t your driving in.
Maybe you should just get a set of studded snow tires for the 17s
Here you go, 4 hours from you in Bend.

thanks red01 that would be perfect! cept is 4 hours in the opposite direction im trying to go. ill see if he would want to meet somewhere. i really wouldnt use the chains much at all unless im driving through the hills to get to the valley or going up to the mt. and really i still wouldnt probably need them but if i get pulled over with out them its a huge ticket and the cops around here often check for that at random stops

Id put money that those wheels wont fit over the front calipers, its rare to find a set of 16" wheels that fit.

And Wow i didnt know there was anywhere chains were required!

im not sayin my car needs them. im wondering how'd they fit anyway since the upper control arms have almost zero clearance to fit chains without rubbing. im just worried that if a cop pulls me over and asks for chains and i dont have em its a hefty fine.
