I already said it's modable (infinitely so!)...you don't need to sell me on that! But the running costs alone on a STOCK S4 are incredible...mod it, even a little, and those costs increase exponentially, and I'm sorry...you can do better.
tell me where i can do better?? maybe theres just a lot of imature kids out there that dont know how to drive and or beat the hell out of their b5's because just because they dont warm up or cool down properly?? the only extra costs i had when i chipped mine was a 45 dollar tbb that tore under the higher boost...
and ya know what.. you can say what your opinion is .. thats all fine and dandy.. but i bet you cannot name one car for what ive got in mine(@9500.00) that will make me smile and my passengers grab the OS bars like this car does...

....
im waitin'..:-)

Who do you think you're talking to??

idk.. who AM i talking to.. youre the one that asked the question..

It's not just about speed. Look, I love Audi, but you're better off not comparing it to an M3 in almost every way.
how so.. YOU tell me why?? ive driven m3's and m5's.. and they are amazing cars.. even the new 3 series with the 300 bhp six is sweet.. im not saying they arent nice cars. but y not compare it to an audi?? audis are cheaper to buy.. bmw definately arent cheap to maintain.. and id say looks are very similar as far as european sexy.. the rwd is def a plus on dry days.. so.. you tell me some pros to your argument.. ive given a number of mine..

Right, look, I know you're going to be defensive about your car (I would be too...even if I knew my opponent were right...), but I'm active with the local Euro scene. I'm NOT basing my opinions on threads that I've read on this forum. I'm active with the local Euro scene here. See my similar comment in "How Reliable," a few threads down.

Ticking time bomb. What percentage of B5 owners on this thread have a major issue? I counted 7 before I lost track...it's not good.

All I'm saying is that I love the B5 and I love the S4 and I will never understand the appeal of the B5 S4 over another, similar car (yeah, yeah, there's nothing like it).

A chip might be about all it takes to make your car faster than my B6, but I don't care! If I had wanted a 14 year old body (sexy body, but still...I was 9 when it hit the market), an unreliable engine, and a ****-load of moving parts, I'd have bought a B5. I didn't. I wanted a beautiful car without a single flaw. So I bought the V8. Your car will go a lot faster than mine, but I will never be jealous.

lol. .neither will .. i have a friend that just spent 10 grand on a short block for his b6 s4.. and got stuck with a 1500 dollar core charge because he cant ship it back to europe.. pistons scored the cylinder walls on 2 cylinders(and he says with his research this is happening alot).. so as long as you get back on here and cry when your engine goes and you see a bill for 10 grand, then i promise ill cry whenever my b5 s4 goes down.. well add em' up and count them at the end of the day...

I have a B5 A4, so I understand loving the look, but ****...the B5 S4 DOESN'T work! In terms of style and reliability you can do much better for the money, so why are you wasting the money?? I don't get it. Those cars look the same as a 1996 model A4 (and for $12k+??? Out of your f*cking minds!)

Go on...teach me what is SO great about this car versus a newer (and in my opinion, better) car (esp S4, but hello, M3 FTW). The B5 is more readily modable, but the already low reliability decreases exponentially with every increase in HP. And you're still stuck with a 14 year old body! If you've already got a B5, I get it, I understand, but if not, don't you know you're wasting your money?
BLASPHEMOUS! Its a cult-car you gotta join the cult to know what its all about. Most of us wouldnt dream of switching to a B6 s4, on the contrary you see alot of people switching from B6/B7's back to the B5 S4. No other audi or BMW can offer what the B5 S4 does

Sine, do you own a B5 S4? Have you ever operated a B5 S4 for an extended amount of time? And your taking a small group of B5's with problems and saying that all B5 S's are unreliable. Anything I have ever done to either of my 2.7T's has been expected.

2000 A6 2.7T 6mt 130,000 no problems but the MAF did just go out ($160 fix)

2001 S4 6mt 94,000 looks and drives like it has 25k miles.

I just cant relate here. I love my B5...forever and ever. and it will take your B6 with ease.
