So I have been looking into buying an S4 for awhile. I found a 2000 B5 S4 with 73k miles really good condition. I talked to the guy and he has had some stuff done to it. This is what he told me he has put into it:

The chip web page looks a little "ehhhhhhh" to me. The car is currently just shy of $15000. What should I do? Should I wait and find a different one, or should I continue to look into it? Also at 73k miles he hasn't mentioned anything about replacing the turbos yet. What SHOULD HAVE BEEN replaced already?

This is going to be my second car. It's going to be the first one I purchase with my own money (I'm only 18) and I don't want to screw up and buy something that is going to cause me trouble right away. I want to make sure any mods done to it or legit and won't mess up the car in anyway. So help me out please...

That chip is the SUCK! It puts out the lowest HP #'s & people just don't like it.

Other then that, it sounds ok. I personally don't like anything that was done, except the DV's.

 

Ya, well first thing I'm going to do is buy a GIAC chip and then go from there changin suspension and brakes what that stuff. I just want to make sure this car won't give me so much trouble within a year that I end up spending the money, that I want to spend on better parts, to keep it running. You think it's good enough that it will at lest be a good daily driver until I can put real stuff into it?

 

Give you trouble? The CAR IS TROUBLE! It's expensive to maintain. Chances are you will get the car, & blow all your money just keeping it on the road.

 

Do you meanany S4 is trouble in general or THAT car in general? Ifyou mean every S4I kno that. Parts are expensive and I'm prepared for that. And of course I'm prepared for stuff thatdoesn't always come when you expect, it's expected with any car...

 

I have no clue what shape that car is in, my point was that the S4 in general are expensive.

i cant even believe that people even think of buying that stupid inmotin chip it just makes me think that you will be out of motion within a small time period...honestly go with a proven company ...
