Increase your remote range in 20min
Sounds like a FS ad? Anyway, I was playing around, & found out that I can increase my remote lock/unlock range up to 50ft! YEA, 50ft! No more 5ft from the front! This has ALWAYS PISSED me off. I would park, then walk not even 2 cars away, & the remote would not work. Trying to open & close the Windows with the remote would not always work, & take to long, if I was more then 3ft from the car. This is just unacceptable! The dealer has a fix, that is basically a new longer antenna.
How do you do this, you ask? Well, paypal $20 to...... J/K
Ok, you don't even need to jack up the car, even if it's lowered.
1. Crawl, under the rear bumper on the passenger side.
Look for this, it will zip tied up in the bumper, pull it out don't worry it's just a plastic cover & not the antenna. Yea, it's like 8in long!!

2. Cut (carefully) the plastic cover, the antenna in there, so don't just cut it. The cover is about 5in longer then the antenna.
3. Once you see the antenna, strip about 1/2in off, then get about 1m (3.3ft) of 22g wire & strip off 1/2in of the end.
4. Solder, or just splice them into 1 wire, I then used some heat shrink tubing to seal it.

5. Now, look at the lower bumper extension, weave the antenna in & out of the plastic clips.

6. Enjoy the LONG range!!!! You are done!!!

^^ I looked it up. It said to use your cellphone to call AOA and tell them what a crappy design flaw this is.
Thanks for the write-up. I'm going to do this fix this weekend.

WARNING: You might not have enough wire!
Or any wire at all.. like I did. (98.5 A4 1.8t FWD)
No wire at all, I kept splitting the damn tubing open all the way up to my alarm center thingy, and there was no wire.
So! What I did was take the insulation off of the wire, and then feed the wire up into the grommit, and then followed the guide on placing the rest of the wire underneath the bumper. Works great! I get ~30ft range now instead of 3. [8D]
