after a while you battery on the remote loses power then the distance shortens. chage your battery on the remote, it will change the distance like when your car was new.

Yup, I'm going to get a louder horn, & move it under the rear bumper, that should make a little more noise.

Yes, & no, my old remote works from 5ft the brand new one, works from 5ft. But, yes, when it's going dead the range goes down.

I was also pissed about the range and I found the antenna under the bumper. I then took a 14 guage solid copper wire and soldered it to the antenna and ran the wire through the top of my rear window and stripped the insulation off the wire. I went from 3ft to about 15ft and I was wondering what went wrong. Am I better of using braided speaker cable then the 14g solid or did I lengthen the cable to much (about 6ft)? I even put in fresh batteries in the remote.

I don't have an S4 remote to try this with - although I'm working on changing that! But the chin trick always worked with my other keyless remotes. I could lock my old Lexus from my apartment, which was 200 feet away from my parking spot.

Cbass: The antenna length needs to be proportional to the wavelength of the signal. 6 ft is ~twice the suggested length so that should be close but that does not include the stock 8 inches. Stranded vs solid wire should not make a difference. I bet 6 ft is too long but I am not sure.

germania: I have had no luck extending my range by holding the remote to my head, chin, temple, ... Can anyone else vouch for this method? I performed this mod and definately saw an improvement.
