Default Looks like all the haters (of my exhaust) will be pleased....

For a fewe months now a crack has been building where the Apexi (coffee can type) muffler was (poorly) welded to my (the original S4) exhaust pipes and its finally breacched through (and my muffler is hanging down and hitting stuff)...so Friday it will be replaced by an AWE Twin 1. I knew it would juts be a matter of time and I had already settled on the AWE unit. Still I'm going to miss that exhaust. It was somewhat unique (for an S4) and I think looked (loos) great on my Avant...but at the same time looking foreward to the cat back and hopefully (we'll see) freer flow of the AWE piping (and the awesome Twin 1 growl). Its pretty load right now though BTW - spits and sputters - attracts lots of attention. (oh and I did get stopper right before xmass for speeding (given a warning) and was also warned about my exhaust (not the first time)...aparently no exhaust mods are legal in Virginia (primative place)....still sad to see the Apexi can go...

Twin 1s are in! Look and sound great - though I still miss my Apexi - the look and sound both. Twin 1 is quieter at cruise but has a great WOT sound - a bit basier then the Apexi and perhaps somehwhat louder but similar. Performance wise I can't really tell much difference but it may feel just a tad torquier at mid RPMs - again difficult to say for sure. (I never dynoed it at Stage III yet). The whole exhaust is really slick - the piping looks great - much better then the stock and the tips are sweet. Still I felt my Avant had a unique look with the big coffee can and I liked the look. Still I can't complain at all about the Twin Is...the do look and sound great - my mechanic says thaty it now sounds like an Audi should!

Anyway here are some pics (again) of my old exhaust (lets see if it works this time)...

Some close ups - showing how banged up the muffler was even as of last Spring...

Hey thanks - yeah I think so...and often get compliments about it (from all kinds of people) - including once where a guy at a gas station said that my car was about the coolest and most wicked looking kid & grocery hauler he had ever seen! Also had one guy (a brit) actually bow down on the pavement before the car thinking it was actually an RS4 (very funny)...and after recently getting back from a few hours playing in the new snow I would say it drives pretty damn good too!

This was the first snow/ice for me in theS4. I was very happy when i turned off the traction control and gave it a lot. It just shot in a strait line, with no wiggle but just went. Iam so tired of it being stock. i think that i need to just by the chip and not tell the wife and see if she can tell. well good luck with yours, theavant is the only way to go.

Yeah...I know...I can still remember my first time...lol (really I do - just how kick butt it was and with my passenger screaming as I kept upping the speed!...actually he wasn't screaming but was very concerned...). I had a ball going into work this AM too - lots of ice...SUVs going 5 mph (or already off the road!) and me just tooling along at the speed limit! No worrys mate!

Avant is it for me too. All S4s are great - but for me the Avant was my only consideration...

Besides a chip (by all means do it!) - I'd recommend coilovers (& lower it!) , sways, short shifter and driveline stabalizer. Your car (and driving experience) will be transformed...
