Default Low power, let me know what you think.

Well reading through the forums I think I may know whats up but I still wanted to put it out there for advice or an amen.

Lately power in hard acceleration has been variable. Sometimes off the line its a rush as the power builds and the turbos kick in. Other times I just feel like I have the linear acceleration of an non turbo car.

Today though all day it has felt like no turbo.

So I am thinking I have a boost leak or a DV problem.

The only other thing that I noticed was a faint high pitched sound under acceleration. That may be nothing since I never really listened that hard until I had the problem.

So what do you think I should check first or is there some dead give away to suggest I need to be buying something.

By the way I have samco hoses.

Thanks guys.

Build yourself a boost leak tester or buy one from AWEtuning and do this test first.
it's cheap and easy to do + you will eliminate a common problem with b5s4. then
you could VAG you car and look out for codes. Post your result so we can help you out.
The noise you ear can be caused by a leak, since boost is escaping turbo will have less
restriction and can make a different noise than usual.
Good Luck

I have the same problem same sound. Sometimes it pulls hard others it doesn't feel like the turbos work at all. The dealership couldn't find anything last month. Then over the weekend I blew the MAF device code 2. After replacing it I think acceleration is more consistent but too early to tell for sure. I'll keep you posted. That sound is still there and others have said it is simply the turbos spooling.

To test the MAF, run unplugged, then plugged & see if the car feels any different.

A lot of times a boost leak will not show up easily. There have people with torn TBB's that
didn't leak under a leak test. Take it off & pull it inside out & make sure there are no
little tears.

DV's will leak boost when going, but the N75 valve should regulate that a bit. If it's at
a point that there leaking all the time, it will throw a code.

2k s4, I have no codes right now, but if I pull the maf plug to test it. Will the CEL come on, but go away after I plug the Maf back in.

I hate running with CEL's and I dont have a vag.

Thanks

Yes, it can throw a code.

Most auto parts stores will read & reset the codes for free. I bet you have a code in there that isn't throwing the CEL.
