Congrats! I would bet you already have a chip in it.

I would upgrade the rear brakes if they are stock, the Porsche front kit, puts WAY to much front bias on the car, & will extend stopping distances.

Have fun with it!
Most cars I see with upgraded brakes do the BBK in front and leave the rears alone. I can't imagine that it extended the stopping distance farther than stock... this thing tears my face off when I jam on the brakes. But where can I find a good complimentary rear brake upgrade for it? I think the last owner either didn't chip it for reliablility reasons or maybe chipped it and sold it before he traded the car in. Thanks for the responses.

Yea, & I get arguments about it all the time. The fact is you can not outbreak the tires. So once you lock them up, brake size is irrelevant. But most cars are like 75% front 25% rear or there about. When you add just a front BBK kit, ESPECIALLY one that has NOT been built for your car, it can shift way to much front bias, like 90/10. So the fronts lock up faster since they are doing so much more work, & you get longer distances.

Even changing the caliper piston just a couple of mm, can drastically affect distances. ECS makes a Ok rear kit, with the stock caliper, so doesn't Stasis. This will shift some of the bias to the back & give you better brake balance.

I bet it was chipped, & he sold it. No one is going to put other things on the car, & not chip it. I bet you once had an exhaust on there also. Chipping it is the BIGGEST bang for the buck increase!

Generally a sure way to tell if the car was chipped is to look at the ECU box, and most people are tooooo lazy to put the last bolt back on the one tucked under towards the windshieldthat requires you to pop off the wipers and cover skirt to get to it easily or to tell if the bolts or ecu coverlook too clean or wrenched.

2k s4- how did you become so informed with so many aspects of Audi vehicles? you always have such great answers to technical questions.

I took the cover off and looked to see if there was a sticker or anything on the outside of it but as you wrote, I was too lazy to get underneath to remove all of the bolts and take it apart.

Yes, but if it was "flashed" then some leave the ECU in the car. However, some will put some kind of sticker on the ECU.

If you want to know for sure, get a boost gauge, or a Vag-com.

It has nothing to do with Audi's, just general car knowledge, & I am a Physicists.

As for an exhaust system,I would gowith Milltek's Tru-Dual Catback system, thatswhat i got on my B5 S4and im very pleased. There are other manufaturersthat have the"Tru-Dual" design, i thought Millteks was good enough. They are all about $900 or so. Very nice car too!
