No Heat
So I've searched a little bit and still haven't been able to diagnose my problem. Just recently bought my car, and now that it is becoming cold outside I have wanted some heat. But whenever I turn up the heat on my car, all I get is some cool air. And I never get any warm air. My air conditioning worked fine a few weeks ago, and nothing smells like coolant. All that gets blown through my vents is air. All my fans work, including the main fan in the engine compartment. Now I'm obvisously not a car mechanic, but is there any type of flap or valve that allows the heat from the engine in. Or do these Audi's have some sort of heating device? I'm sure you guys are sick of this type of question, but any help would be appreciated. Or any link to a thread would help, thanks.
Sounds like your blend door is not functioning. I'm not sure if it is vacuum controlled or not some are but maybe a a vacuum line came off. Or the actuating lever on the door broke. I'd have to research what controls it it more but that sounds like a blend door problem.
Thanks Red, I searched on blend door and found a thread from an A4 that didn't have heat. But he didn't say if he resolved his problem or not. I'm thinking that something must be wrong with that since I can get cool air, but no warm/hot air. Still not sure if that is what it actually is. Anyone else with any suggestions?
drobrt,
I am having the same problem in my 2002 A4 1.8T. Everything seems to work fine except the air does not get hot. I have found the return coolant hose from the heater core to be "empty" and cold, while the feed line is hot and firm with collant in it. It could be an air slug blocking the flow. I'm looking into this and to see if there may be some other reason the engine coolant cannot flow properly.
