Noob going to look at a S4,any common probelms?
Hey guys,
This is my first time on this forum before and wanted to start off with hello My question is, im going to look at 2000 s4 with 80k on it. Is there any common problems these have that i should look for? How is matience on these cars? Are they pritty expensive if something goes wrong? Ive been driving lifted jeep's and trucks for awhile and now am looking for a s4 or maybe a A6t but dont really know anything about either of these cars. One better over the other? Thanks a lot for your input!

Theres some common probelms. Do a search on here.. Its been covered a few things, but things like the TBB likes to tear. Turbo failure is possible safe to keep money around. Yes it is expensive to fix. Its a german car and you pay for it. But you gotta pay to play right . With that said. I love it, its an awesome car and one of if not the best of a combo of performance and luxury.

I agree w/ sooks.......but a common problem also is the 2nd water pump under the intake. Mine , my friend and his cousin all have 2000 s4's and they all have the 2nd dary water leaking. But after today mine won't anymore. $400 later and it is fixed. You just have to keep on top of maintance and you'll be fine. Also wheel bearing tend to go around then also. Looking at about $140 a tire.

Case,
This is from one newb to another:
(1) Do a search on here and audiworld.com.
(2) Check out this website: http://www.s4biturbo.com/
(3) The ABS can go out, which I've read can run $1000-1200. The guy I bought the S4 from is replacing it for me for $300, labor gratis.
(4) Check to see if the timing belt has been changed. It's in that time where it should have been/needs to be. That's about a $1200 fix as well.
(5) Do searches on turbos at audiworld. There are stories about what happened to people before their turbos went out. Ironic, because all of the symptoms were there on an S4 I drove but didn't buy.
G Luck.
